PS KELLO HARSAMA CHAIRS SECOND JCC MEETING FOR IFNUS PROJECT TO ENHANCE THE PROJECT IN ASALS

PS Harsama Kello led the Second Joint Coordination Committee Meeting for the "Improvement of Food and Nutrition Security through building adaptive capacity to climate change in ASALs (IFNUS)" project. This significant endeavor, spanning five years, is a collaborative effort involving the state Department for ASALs, JICA, and the county governments of Kitui and Turkana. Stakeholders are urged to engage in thorough consultations with the government to ensure alignment with the BETA agenda.

As part of the project's scope, agricultural activities will be integrated into schools within the project areas, with a focus on facilitating these activities through the construction of boreholes. This not only ensures sustainable water supply for agriculture but also provides hands-on learning experiences for students.

Moreover, the project emphasizes exploring opportunities in the livestock industry to enhance the economic resilience of the involved counties. Collaboration among stakeholders, along with careful planning and coordination, will be crucial for the success and sustainability of the initiative.

The IFNUS project exemplifies the commitment to improving food and nutrition security and building adaptive capacity to climate change in arid and semi-arid regions. Through collaborative efforts and a forward-thinking approach, lasting positive impacts on the communities and regions involved are anticipated.
