THE STATE DEPARTMENT BPR COMMITTEE UNDERTAKES FIVE-DAY WORKSHOP TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY

The Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) Committee from the State Department undertook a five-day workshop at the Wildlife Research and Training Institute in Naivasha. The workshop aimed at strengthening the Department’s efficiency and improving public service delivery through the review and redesigning of key operational processes.
The workshop, facilitated by officials from the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, focuses on the re-engineering of two critical services: Records Management and Complaints Management. The exercise forms part of the Government’s broader reform agenda under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to modernize public sector operations, promote accountability, and ensure citizens receive timely and efficient services.
The exercise is also aligned with the FY 2025/2026 Performance Contract (PC) targets, highlighting the State Department’s commitment to institutional transformation and continuous improvement in service delivery standards.
Through the workshop, members of the BPR Committee are reviewing existing workflows, identifying operational gaps and bottlenecks, and developing streamlined procedures that will enhance coordination, reduce turnaround times, and improve responsiveness to public concerns. The exercise further aims to strengthen records handling systems and establish more efficient mechanisms for receiving, tracking, and resolving complaints.
Officials leading the sessions emphasized that effective business process re-engineering is essential in building a responsive and citizen-centered public service. They noted that modern institutions must continuously adapt their systems and procedures to meet evolving public expectations while ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability in service provision.
The workshop also provides a platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building, enabling participants to adopt best practices in process improvement, records digitization, customer service management, and institutional performance monitoring.
Once completed, the re-engineered processes are expected to contribute significantly to improved operational efficiency within the State Department, enhance customer experience, and stronger institutional accountability. The outcomes of the workshop will also support the realization of the Government’s wider public sector reform objectives aimed at delivering quality services to citizens in a more efficient and transparent manner.
The State Department remains committed to implementing transformative reforms that strengthen governance systems, improve service delivery, and advance sustainable institutional development in line with national priorities.
